Congratulations!

The Reflections Art Contest is underway! Click here for more details

Reflections Arts Contest Entries are due on Friday, October 28 at 8:30am.

Below are details for submissions, and on our Shutterfly page you can find the attachment that outlines more details.

ARTS CATEGORIES: There are six arts categories – dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Students may enter the National PTA Reflections Program in one or more arts categories.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: All students are welcome to participate!

HOW TO ENTER: Entrants must submit their artwork and student entry form to their PTA. Entires are due on Friday, October 28 at 8:30am.

Entrants must follow requirements and instructions specific to each arts category and division.

WHERE DO I FIND RULES FOR EACH CATEGORY? Can find this info at www.EmersonStarsPTA.org or on our Emerson Stars Facebook page.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: (All participants must also follow Arts Category and Division Rules)

  • Only new pieces of artwork inspired by the current year’s theme may be submitted. The theme this year is, "What is Your Story?"
  • Each entry must be the original work of one student only. An adult may not alter the creative integrity of a student’s work. Because the program is designed to encourage and recognize each student’s individual creativity, help from an adult or collaboration with other students is not allowed except in the Special Artist Division. Only one student may be recognized as the award recipient for each entry. Other individuals may appear in or perform a student’s work, but the work itself must be the creative product of one student only. See the specific Arts Category Rules for details.
  • Each entry must contain a title and all entries must include an artist statement. The artist statement communicates what inspired the work, how it relates to the theme, and the content of the work. The statement must include at least one sentence, but may not exceed 100 words.
  • Use of copyrighted material is prohibited, except for recorded music in dance choreography and film production entries. Plagiarized entries will be disqualified. Use of PowerPoint presentations are prohibited because most graphic elements are copyrighted.

Please bring your submissions to the box in the front office with an official entry form— click this link !

We would LOVE some DANCE CHOREOGRAPHY, LITERATURE, MUSIC, and FILM PRODUCTION  submissions! If chosen to go to the next levels, those videotaped dances or essays or poems or movies or songs are displayed at the PTA NATIONAL CONVENTION! It is amazing to see!

If you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact me! Erin Konstantine — 310-629-4211 text or call and erinkonstantine@mac.com .

The submission deadline is October 28th!

Our Kids! Here are our PTA Reflections art contest winners at the Burbank Council Level (this means that they were judged against all schools in Burbank Unified)! We will have our own Emerson ceremony later in the year now that we have the art back from Council! We are also hoping to display the art at Barnes and Noble again this year! Congratulations!
